As we read, I need to remind myself that we are reading in the book of Luke. I was surprised when the angel appearing to Joseph was not mentioned, but then I remembered that was recorded in the book of Matthew which we will read later.
I was also struck by the pairing of the blessings and the woes in Luke. The blessings have a tendency to make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and then we are brought back to reality by the woes. Before we start thinking too highly of ourselves, God reminds us where we came from, or in some cases where we are, and reminds us there is always room for improvement.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. I have experienced many seasons in my life, and God has blessed me with yet another, for which I am extremely thankful. This season includes a beloved husband, eight children, 13 grandchildren, and working as a counselor at a Christian Bible college. How cool is that?! How will I see God's word at work in each of these areas of my new season of life?

What an exciting opportunity we have here at Grace Bible College! The entire faculty, staff, and student body will be reading the book The Books of the Bible New Testament. How exciting it will be to have discussions at lunch, in our offices, in our classrooms, or in the hallway about what we have read that day and how God is speaking into our lives through His holy word!
This is a page-turner and a life changer!
